Busy Busy Busy!

I have been busy busy busy lately.  In November, I took a job at my kids' school and then at the end of November, I was offered a job at the local Panera Bread.  Between both jobs, at my high point, I was working over 60 hours a week.  I love being able to be at school with my kids and then I also love the customer service part at Panera.  (not to mention the amazing food!)   I am forcing myself to slow down because I need to have me time and I also need to be with my kids at home.  Ive actually requested a day off a week where I am off from both jobs.  I was burning the candle at both ends, and am quite burnt out.

Back in November, I made these for the Vice Principal at the school I work at.  Can you guess where they were going? :)

For Christmas presents to the teachers and friends at school, I made these....

They are glasses with the teachers name on one side of the glass and the other side has an initial in parentheses.  I filled them with candy and ornaments.  They loved them!

These were a couple projects I made for friends for their Christmas presents.  The frames, I made a total of 12 all together.

I also made a mailbox for a good friend of mine for his girl.  She loves frogs!!!

So with work, I still found time to keep busy :)  Now that spring is here, and school will be out for summer, I should have time to do more vinyl work as well as chainmaille and gardening.  I wish someone would add more hours to the day!!!

Weddings

I love making this picture for wedding showers and even weddings themselves.  I made this for my neighbor Mandy.  Her and her fiance are getting married Nov 14, 2014.  The shower was the 5th of Oct.  Because they are going to Florida for the ceremony, I went ahead and gave this to them for the shower. It is in chocolate brown  and Love and the date are in Maroon.  The frame is 12x12.  The vinyl is put on the outside glass and a piece of decorative paper is put behind it. $30.00 ( First and last name can be added as well)

Plates are also very popular.  They look great on the gift table and the couple can take them home and display it. from  The two plates on stands  Jeffery and Gantner are done in brown and the monogram is in beige.    Greiss (bottom) is done in black with the "G" done in a silver/grey.  $15.00 (Easel not included)

This frame is glass to glass that i did for my parents anniversary.  The G with the ornamental work around it is done in brown and Gorry is done in a script font in beige.  The vinyl is placed on different layers of the glass to give it a 3-D effect.  The frame is 16x20     $60.00

When I look to design items for the bride and groom, I like to look at the wedding invitation.  That gives a lot of attention to what they will like.  I look at fonts, .... are they done in script? I look for colors as well.  If you know what the couple likes and know that their living room is in blues, lets pick a color that will compliment that.  The nice thing about the glass to glass is that the wall color will show through.    On the 12x12 frames and other frames that are not glass to glass, the couple can change out the decorative paper to match the room they display it in.  Blacks and browns are always the safest choice.  White can be as well, but it is very stark.  I would prefer to choose a beige or a grey as the secondary color.  But that is why it is custom.  YOU choose!!!

Update

Ive been away from my blog for a while.  Life has happened.  However I haven't given up my crafting.  I have worked my chainmaille and even got into working with paracord until I broke my elbow back in May by tripping over our new puppy .. Olive.  I may eventually be able to go back to the paracord, but as of right now, my elbow still gets sore.

I have gotten uninspired with chainmaille for now, and started back up with vinyl.  I like having the two different crafts.  They are both completely different that I am able to put one down for a while and pick up the other with no problem.

As soon as the kids went back to school towards the end of August, (and after I got the house in order) I picked up my vinyl and haven't looked back.  I started with new owls ... which went over great at the school and then moved onto getting ready for craft shows in the fall.

I will be posting some of my finished work soon... so stay tuned!!!
